Make Video From Pictures

We all take a lot of pictures.  Whether we are on Holiday, go to the Park or attend a Wedding. Taking pictures is one of the best way to help preserve the special day.  Don’t let your images sit in a folder on your hard drive doing nothing, why not make a video from your pictures?

By adding music, voice over, titles or transitions, you can create a slideshow of your photographs to ‘spice them up’ and to really help remember the occasion.

Creating our Video

To create video from our pictures, we are going to use Microsofts free Movie Maker software to add music.  You can view our Free video editing software list here for more info.

  2. Either head for ‘File’ > ‘Import Media Items’ or click the ‘Pictures’ link under import down the left hand side of you screen
  3. Browse for the images you would like to use as part of you video slideshow and click import. (tip; if you would like to import more than one image at a time, hold down the shift key to select multiple images)
  4. Your pictures should now be displayed in the imported media bin, as shown below.
  5. Click and drag your images into the timeline in Movie Maker.
  6. Re-arange, by clicking and dragging, the order in which you would like your images to play.
  7. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to import your music.  Your music track will subsequently display next to your images in the Imported Media folder.
  8. Drag your music track into the timelines audio/music track, as shown below.
  9. Hit the space bar to play your video.  You should see your images change and the music play at the same time, however, lets refine this a little.
  10. Select ‘Tools > Options’.
  11. Choose the ‘Advanced’ tab
  12. Here you can change the speed at which each picture is displayed.
  13. Thats it, you have created your very first, simple video using your pictures and adding music to enhance them.
  14. You now want to export your video from Movie Maker to burn to DVD or to store the video file on your computer.  Simply choose an option from the publish to list and follow the step by step instructions.
