Panasonic SD60 Full HD Camcorder Review
The Panasonic SD60 Full HD Camcorder has a lot of fancy features packed into a tiny shell.
To begin, the SD60 features the brilliant Panasonic O.I.S stabilisation system, reducing overall camera shake during hand held filming. This feature also contributes towards adding that touch of professionalism to your shots, as no one likes un-watchable movies!
The zoom is massive at 25x optical, a range with extensive versatility for film making. This function can be extended by the Intelligent Zoom feature which can further bump the zoom up to 35x with no quality reduction. The zoom also extends further with an optional 1,500x digital, however, this falls short of useful as the images become fuzzy masses and fall short of the crisp, sharp images that we all desire.
The battery lasts for up to two hours and takes a lengthy 2 hours and 18 minutes to fully charge. It is well worth the wait however, with great image and sound quality making the SD60 a great compact for the gadget lover or amateur film maker.
The features of the Panasonic SD60 Full HD Camcorder also include a touch screen LCD display with an additional row of buttons just under the screen making on camera operations a breeze.
The Camcorder utilises an SD Cardfor storage rather than built-in memory, giving the advancements of increasing storage capacity by purchasing additional SD cards. Furthermore, the SD60 could easily attain a storage capacity as high as 64GB, which would allow for less disruption during filming. The downside of this however, is the fact that your recording time would exceed the battery life. Additional batteries can be purchased however.
Additionally, there is access to shutter speed, iris and gain, allowing for complete manual control if desired. No spot focus option is a bit of a drawback but nothing serious, as the default settings are appropriate. Those who are accustomed to manual focus adjustment will find no problem with this. The Panasonic SD60 Full HD Camcorder has an impressive fully automatic mode for the casual user.
The camcorder starts out at a whopping £299, so it isn’t one for someone who may have a tight budget, but that is besides the point for this camcorder, as the features alone make this a good investment.
The Panasonic SD60 is a functional camera that can appeal to more professional or savvy types.
Overall
This is an impressive camera that delivers exceptional quality video for both the technically oriented and the everyday user.
It appeals to all walks of life and, if the budget allows, will pan out well for the investment. The automatic mode is like having a pro operating the cam, so there is no compromise of practicality.
